Sheryl Crow and gal pal Rita Wilson got in some girl time together as they took in a spot of lunch yesterday at The Ivy.

Crow's new album, Detours is due in stores early next year and, according to her, it's “very inspired by the last three years of events in my life,” a phase that saw her her engaged to and broken up from Lance Armstrong, adopt a child and, last but certainly not least, wage a successful battle against breast cancer.

Crow says “This is the most honest record I’ve ever made. It’s about being forced to wake up."

Julia Roberts, Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson and Diane Sawyer were among the stars on the red carpet at the world premiere of Charlie Wilson's War at Universal Studios in Hollywood.

The film, due in US theaters on December 21, is a drama based on a Texas congressman Charlie Wilson's covert dealings in Afghanistan, where his efforts to assist rebels in their war with the Soviets have some unforeseen and long-reaching effects.
