Mel Gibson left court in Los Angeles today after a judge reportedly told him that he'd completed the requirements of his no-contest plea and was not required to make further progress reports in court.

"You're on your own now with the self-help groups, so this is the most difficult time for you, " Judge Lawrence Mira said, "Good luck to you as you continue your rehabilitation."

Actor Mel Gibson has been following the rules of his probation for a DUI arrest during which he made derogatory remarks about Jews and women, his lawyer, Balir Berk, told a judge yesterday. The actor was not required to attend the hearing.

Berk provided Judge Lawrence Mira with documents showing the 51-year-old Gibson was meeting the terms of his probation. Gibson has been required to check in with the court periodically since his July 28, 2006, misdemeanor drunken driving arrest on Pacific Coast Highway.

The Judge was reportedly pleased with Gibson's progress and scheduled his next hearing for February 15, 2008.

Berk had a very busy schedule today. After finishing up with Gibson's hearing, she raced to Beverly Hills to negotiate a plea deal on behalf of Lindsay Lohan.
