Eva Longoria enjoyed a meal with some friends at Cafe Med on Sunset Blvd. yesterday. She used to frequent the popular Italian restaurant before she was famous and loves the food so much that she still often goes there for lunch.

Eva is launching an after-school center for disabled children in San Antonio, Texas called Eva's Heroes. The nonprofit organization will soon open the group's first after-school program for developmentally challenged children and young adults.

The center, located at a local Catholic church, is slated to open in mid-September 2007. This particular center will provide the foundation of what could be a network of similar centers throughout San Antonio, the state, even the nation.

Hello,

I am so glad to hear that Ms. Longoria is planning to open an after-school program for special kids. My son is autistic and is 22 years old. When my son was younger we did not have any special after school programs. As a single working parent I would plead with my son's bus driver every year to drop him off at our home after 5pm so that I would have enough time at 5:pm to rush home and grab him. I guess you can say that the bus was my after school daycare.

Now that my son is 22 years and is graduating, there doesn't seem to be too many places to house him when I am at work. I think I am going to have to get creative again...sigh...

It doesn't get any better...

anyway, thank you Eva for caring!

My grandson, Zachary, was born with Leach Nyham Syndrome. I am interested knowing
more about "Eva's Heroes". My son took him to a Spurs game and he was all excited seeing you.
He is 12 years old and attends Coke Stevens Middle School.

Sincerely,
Lille
